After I replaced my crashed harddrive, I reinstalled Windows 98se. Since it had IE5 built in I thought I could use it to download some files. I reinstalled my AT&T dialer, and connected immediately. Only problem was IE wouldn't load. If I click on the icon after I connect all I get is the same screen that you have if you click on it and you aren't connected. After calling At&t helpdesk repeatedly, I have reinstalled my dial-up connection four times, all with the same result. Finally I downloaded, using another computer, one of those free web browsers, thinking maybe IE was the problem. NOPE! The freebie browser won't connect either. The crashed computer worked perfectly before, I could start Netscape and then go directly to IE and they both work. I'm using the same USR modem and my web and dialer settings seem to set correctly. Can anyone help me on this??
thanks, foghat

clarification - you say if you start in netscape and then go into ie it works? Look under files and make sure work offline is not selected

I have two computers. My old one, which I'm using now, and my newer one which I cannot load any browsers with. The old one will load both Netscape and IE. The newer one, before the hard drive crash, could connect to both also. What I'm trying to find out is why, after I make a connection to the server, I can't get IE or the generic one to connect. Even if I use the IE connection wizard to set up my dialer I get the same result. An unconnected page.

I think I replied earlier, but this website is confusing. So I'll try it this way. My old computer, which I can still connect to the internet works and I can Access both IE and Netscape. MY other computer is the one I can't connect with. It only has IE5 on it. I checked to see if I had offline checked and I don't. Anyway the generic downloaded browser won't connect either. Do you have any other suggestions?
