I just found this article about days are not as long as they used to be since the earthquake this past weekend. I guess it means we are going to get older faster but live longer.

It can open your eyes on how fragile earth really is.

Electronic sonar can differentiate between echoes about 12 millionths of a second apart. With a lot of work, that can be cut to 8 millionths or 6 millionths of a second.

"Bats do 2 to 3 (millionths of a second) relatively easily.
I guess bats will notice the spin better than we ever will.

As you basically said, it is not noticable but I wonder whats been causing all of the large earthquakes lately? If it is a sign of things to come.

I don't see it as a sign of things to come but rather a sign of things that can and do come naturally. F5 tornadoes, Cat 5 hurricanes, erupting volcanoes, earth quakes, blizzards, floods, disease..........and the list goes on. If one believes in Mother Nature having her way at times, then that's the answer.

Now if you walk outside one day and see the sun shining and 8 minutes later
(the time it takes for sunlight to reach Earth) the sun is gone, then I still don't see that as a sign of things to come but a sign of things that went....Like us.

Compared to Hurricane Ivan or even the Twin Towers disaster, Asia shows that things can get worse fast. Just look at Africa with millions of lives on the line due to famine and disease.
