fire fox 1.0 does not connect to the net

Hi,

I have win XP home addition. After down loading I can not get out on the net. One example of the error is :

google.com could not be found Check name and try again

I have tried many. They work fine if I use IE.

I am using Java 1.4.0

Are you using a proxy server?

In Firefox Preferences check that the correct conection is used. Direct Connection is default.

Also check any Firewalls or Internet Security programs to make sure Firefox is allowed access.

Hi, under options , then connection settings, I tried both direct connect to internet and auto detect proxy config.

the fault comes up right away with no delay .... almost like it doesn't even try.

if I copy and paste the same URL that I am using in IE that works it fails with fire fox.
etc.

I turned off the fire wall and internet security and it works fine. How do I check and or create an exception for Fire Fox ? Thanks Jim

My inetrnet fire wall was set to block fire Fox. I change the settin to allow Fire Fox and it works fine. Thank for your help! Jim
