I agree, donate whatever you can. Unfortunately it will all be needed.

To be honest, yes I did. However, note I did not say in my message where to donate nor did I say anything that link. I leaving it up to the individual as to where they want to donate to. Personally I donated to the international red cross.

Dan, did you check the validity of the website?

Our store made a collection for this cause, today....What a terrible tragedy/disaster.

Unhappy

A lot of people try to help with good intentions but Asia does not need truckloads of fur coats, broken toys, old torn clothes......and on and on.
The biggest need is potable water. Plain old bottled water will save many lives.

Water purification tablets are on hand so that they can put these tablets into their drinking water and then be certain that when they drink it they're not going to be ingesting lethal bacteria.

Unfortunately, the water purification tablets make the water taste like water from a swimming pool. It's very chlorinated, and not many people enjoy drinking that, so they try, if possible, to avoid it. Not a good thing.

After our mini disaster with Ivan here in Pensacola, we had to beg folks not to send any more food but water and ice was desperately needed. Our little war torn-like city still just making a dent in the rebuilding and debris removal after 3 months.

Take this small nuisance and multiply it by a few million and it may still not equal the Asian disaster. Mother Nature at one of her worst spectacles.

God help those people. One in three bodies pulled from the waters are children.

In a case like this, it is best just to donate cash since shipping items will take weeks or would cost more than the items donated are worth.

I recently saw an article about donations that went to florida and in some cases they were just thrown out because there was no place to store the times so they rot.

I think the Government has sent 23 million in money over sea's and more will be spent on supplies, so I think items may be more important then money. I'm not sure really. If there was a place to drop off bottles of water and ect around here I'd go and purchase it and give it to the proper authorities.

Individual donations of water is not feasable unless you own a bottled water company. Find an organization that most fits your wants in where you want your money spent.
Here's some: http://www.interaction.org/sasia/#Details

“Contaminated drinking water is the most serious cause of death and disease after a crisis like this."
An average person can survive nearly 2 months without food, but only 5 to 7 days without water so drinking contaminated water will start real quick.
Frightening.

Good link, this way one can donate to the charity of their choice.
