Okay, I just came here to get help, so don't flame me for having AOl. By anywho, I recentely installed AOL 9.0 on my computer. After it got done installing, I click on the AOL icon and a pop-up appears saying that there are files that need to be installed in order to connect, stuff like that. So when I click 'Yes' the pop up goes anyway and the AOL start-up goes away and the sign-on screen doesn't show up. Can someone tell me hwo to fix this problem?

Hello El Reeker
Without knowing what files are missing ect... it would be difficult to determine what the problem is exactly. Have you tried reinstalling the software? (http://www.aol.com/support/index.adp?toc=install&page=03)

your first problem is that you installed AOL, good luck I dont know what to tell you. I do know that it is very difficult to remove everything AOL "hides" on your computer. Call AOL and tell them you will drop the service if they can't help you. Again I say, good luck! sorry.

Hello,
I am having a similar problem. MY AOL was working fine and then I was getting this message everytime I tried to sign on. It was telling me that AOL needed to add certain files and to restart the computer. I do this and I still get the same message. AOL wont open at all. Does anyone know what to do to fix this problem?
Thanx

Neither of you said how you first installed AOL 9, hopefully you did
by way of a CD, if so, I would first uninstall the current AOL 9 version and reboot and then reinstall it. YOu can also try to reinstall in right over itself also, but that may pick up the same corrupt files or whatever that is causing you current problem.

Hi to both El_Reeker and Enigmatic4u
Have you recently downloaded/installed SP2?
Or
Upgraded to AOL9 after installing SP2?
Tweaker.
You're link is not working.

I'm led to believe that the recent update to AOL for broadband users in the UK wasn't exactly brilliant and has cased some problems. Not sure what the fix is though.

i had the same problem
i know this is a bit extreme but the only way i got around the problem was to uninstall all the aol programs I.E. 7.0/8.0/
and then load a fresh copy
but save your pfc

Trouble is AOL in general. Have you tried any other ISP's ? There are quite a few good ones. I had AOL for a year and constantly had that sort of problems. Matter of fact, I bought my pc from AOL. And i can't seem to get all the AOL stuff out of it. If I could, I would though. Have you read AOL's new TOS ? If you haven't, maybe you better. Anyway, the best way to save your pc is to dump AOL in the river ! Good luck to you, whatever you decide.;)
