This tool is just awesome, I felt like posting it for anyone that uses this will see a huge difference in their connection. Just download it open it click your internet connection type, and then click optimize. After that it'll speed up your browser alot. If anyone has warnings about the use of this please tell me.

I've used TCP Optimizer for about a year now and it is the best utility that I have ever downloaded and installed.

I would be very wary of downloading and installing any executable file without first ensuring it was from a reputable organisation, and also had a description of what it was supposed to do and some idea on how it did it.

Our posters claim it speeds up connections and downloads, how? The only way that I know to speed up a connection is to cache the DNS look-up into the hosts file, this is fine but leaves the possibility of later 404 pages when IP numbers change. The only way I know to speed up downloads is to anticipate the users next hyperlink click and prefetch pages. This will speed up downloads is the anticipation is correct, but will result in massive downloads of unwanted data and possible increases in data download costs.

Is there a link to the information page for this so called wonderful tool? Also why is this piece of software not listed and reviewed in the Applications sub-forum if it's so good? BF

EDIT: I found the FAQ for TCP optimiser at http://www.speedguide.net/faq_in.php?category=100 I still have a few doubts.

I don't really think it can speed up downloads but it has a way of cutting the "red tape" of connecting to websites. Thats all I know about it really, but I noticed this huge change in connecting to websites. Found this in the FAQ.

4. How does it work ?http://www.speedguide.net/images/spacer_01.gifMany network settings in Windows are configured for dialup (low speed) or Ethernet (javascript:// What is Ethernet ?) (low latency (javascript:// What is latency ?)) devices. With today's high-speed Internenet connections, this oversight hampers the performance of your Internet connection as much as 200%.

The SG TCP Optimizer is a tool that optimizes your Windows network/Internet settings, resulting in up to 200% speed boost. It is completely free too !

I agree with this. I always wonder and worry about links that goes straight to downloading files. But then I am very guilty of this also...

I probably was a bit lazy on backing this up and proving it's validity, but I myself am in the same boat guys, thanks for the insight, if I have problems with it or anything wrong happens, I will be sure to report it. ;)

Just found this on a routine spy sweeper scan, the download link I've supplied has a 2 spyware cookies in the TCP optimizer, makes me think if there is anything else it it, the cookie doesn't seem all that bad, just something I found out recently. :P
