All of a sudden, when I go to certain sites, I always get this message, usually after half the webpage is open. Then the rest of the page doesn't load, and the message appears. Under error reporting, more information I get something about mshtml.dll. It seems to only happen on certain sites, so probably some kind of web script that is causing this -- has anyone seen this error before? Would it help if I posted a list of sites that don't work and see what they have in common?

If you know the date of the problem and are using XP or ME then you could try a System Restore.
or try this IE repair tool

Yeah I thought I could just do a system restore (which has worked a few times in the past) but for some reason, system restores don't work anymore (in WinXP)

Is System restore turned on? In what way doesn't it work?

I've tried to restore to a number of different dates, it appears as though the process is working but then at the end I get a msg saying something like "Cannot restore to this point, nothing has been changed". I've never turned system restore off.

hmm wonder if turning it off and back on again would fix it for future restores.
