Problem with pointer controler

HI everyone ! My first time here.
I'm running on win95 upgraded to 98.
I have a IBM ec5 and very often my mouse is not able to move the pointer vertically ,it only moves horizontaly.I have a microsoft wheelmouse (intellimouse , serial or PS2 compatible).
I tried to change the mouse for a plain 2 button and it is doing the same problem.
I think the problem is internal in the computer.I tried a new driver and nothing
changed.HELP !

heres a trouble shooting link to microsoft see if you can find any of your symptoms there.

also you could try to uninstall your drivers and just let window load the default drivers and see if that works.
