nned help with older monitor

before i can transfer info and setting from old computer to new computer --since i did not purchase a new monitor i had to get an older monitor in order to give commpands to transfer fies etc --well i have worked on it but get 2 -0r 3 divisions on my screen of the desktop ---can you help be set this up properly -- the monitor i am having problems with is a packard bell model p8538svga 14 in and i am trying to get it to work on a hp 6735--633mh2--obviously i am missing doing something simple thanks graham

what do you mean by 2 or 3 divisions at the top of the screen?

Its Like I Getting 2 Or 3 Desktops Showing Left Side Only On The Screen Divided By Black Space--its Hard To Explain I Guess But If You Cut My Desktop Screen In At About 3 Or 4 Inches Then Black Edge And Repeat 3 Times With The Screen Shimmering To The Right At The Top So That It Is Hard To See The Icons To Click On Them --you See 3 Of Each And 3 Pointers -- Does This Explain It To You
