Firefox Error...

Whenever I play a video on a webpage with Windows Media Player, about 5 seconds into the clip Firefox has an error and must close. The clip won't finish either. Not really sure what to do, I tried reinstalling WMP, didn't work.

Screenshot of error and error details:

I only use two extensions, Mouse Gestures 1.0 and User Agent Switcher 0.6, both of which I've been using since the first week I started using Firefox (months ago).

I've restarted, reinstalled WMP, I'm not about to reinstall Firefox, so anyone know what could be wrong?

Also, I haven't messed with any settings since this problem started. The only thing I've done is turned off cookies and used the exceptions list for sites such as CTH, Yahoo!, and others that required cookies to function properly. I've tried putting a site with an MPEG that wouldn't play into the list and that didn't help. Still plays for 3 or 4 seconds and has the error. Any ideas?

I really don't know the answer to your question, but you can probably get an answer quicker if you post in the Mozilla forum:

In case it matters, I'd like to add that I use Windows Media Player all the time for ripping music and watching movie clips and trailers that I download from web sites. If I download a file and play it using WMP, it plays fine, but if I "stream" it on the web page itself, then it screws up.

I have not.

Ugh. I will try if you really think it's necessary, but I REALLY don't want to uninstall Firefox.

Any other ideas before I am forced to do this?

Does this mean I don't need to uninstall Firefox?

Happens in IE, too!

usually questions...

When did it start?
Did you add/remove any software?

Have you tried a System Restore?
Have you tried a System File Check?

It started about a month ago. Restored the system, didn't help, then ran System File Checker and same story.

Are you using the new updated WMP10? It had a update pretty recently.

Have you tried manually replacing wininet.dll?

Yep, got the latest updates installed a month or so back and I think a new update just recently as well.

I could try replacing that file, I'll do it in a bit and let you know.

Could I get some instructions on replacing it? I downloaded another copy of the DLL file, but not too sure about unregistering the old and and replacing with this one.

Also, the current one is 642KB and the new one I downloaded is 570KB.
