Hi
I just bought an older P133 without a monitor or video card. I am trying to install both but when I power up the screen remains black and I have no idea why.
Can anyone help me????????

Hi there, welcome to our world.

I'm not trying to be silly, but is the monitor plugged in? I've even done that.

Are you sure the monitor is good?

When you bootup the computer, are there more than one beep?

Make double sure that you seated the vid card firmly in it's slot. If those cards are even slightly out of the slot they won't work. But you should hear more than one beep if that's the case.

Thanks for the welcome and the quick reply
I have power to the monitor there is a light on. Just black screen. I originally tried a older mono video card with an ega monitor.
When that didn't work I took out my PCI video card from my working computer and the SVGA monitor it was connected to and tried that but to no avail. I am getting no beeps at all. I can hear the hard drive start up but no beeps and NO SCREEN.
I have no idea what OS is on the hard drive at this time.
Any other ideas?????

Thanks

doesn't sound like there is an OS on the hd.. nothing for it to boot to.. have you tried putting a win98 startup disk in the floppy and seeing if it will boot to dos? once you get to dos, do an fdisk and see what is on the hd, format it and start over fresh.

Even If there is no OS shouldn't i still be able to see some sort of startup screen or Bios setup screen. I don't think the OS is the problem. I am wondering if I need some type of video drivers

Yes, you should see something on the screen as it bootup to the point of looking for something to load.

Could be bad memeory, a pad CPU...could be lots of things that you'll need to just go through one at a time, replacing some or reseating others.
