Say, i came across a term that is new to me, and i was wondering if anyone else had come across it and might know what it means?
The word is "Golden CD", and the context has to do with a 'help' CD that a tech might need to do troubleshooting...? I think that's what it does, anyway. If anyone has any ideas or has run across that term, please let me know!! TIA

Installing cable modems, we each had a 'golden cd'. It was simply a CD that was gold-colored (rather than the standard silver or green) and was loaded with various drivers and .cab files that we might need. We burned 'em as we needed 'em. Maybe this is what you're referring to?

In my office we use Ghost to re-image our PCs. Once we get a PC perfect with all of the drivers and applications running as they should, we write that image to a CD and call it a Golden Image or CD. IMHO, it means a perfect CD or one that has no bugs.
A search on Google came up with a number of choices:
<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">A music CD, or a album that has gone * Golden *
The color of a CD
And then basicly what has been said above.
</font>
Here is the link to the Search Page (http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Golden+CD%22&hl=en&lr=&safe=off&start=0&sa=N). Take a look.

In software production, when a cd has completed beta testing and is ready for general release, it is termed a "gold master" or a "golden cd".
