Want to add used HD in Windows 98-save data
I have two Win98se computers and one has quite working. I don't want to spend $ getting it fixed, but want some info from its HD. My thought was to add the HD as a slave to my working Win98 computer to retreive Data. I have removed the HD from the Bad Computer and I can probably make the cable connections etc. within the good computer. Other than setting the jumper as slave, Do I need to do any other hardware configuring when physically installing. I found the link about installing a Slave, but it says to run fdisk and reformat. If I do that I will loose all data. Can't I just plug it in and treat it like any other storage device (floppy, usb thumb drive) and drag and drop the info with explorer? Any advise would be appreciated. BTW I am a novice.

Welcome

You are right in that you should be able to simply hookup the old drive and use Explorer to drag and drop.
