Using shareware after it expires????

ok I just read that it's considered piracy if u use shareware after it expires... but my question is: Why does the shareware still function after the expiration date? why don't they just make the software un-usable (<if that's the right word lol)...

just curious

Some self-destruct, some disable key features after the trial period and some just keep telling you that you should buy it if you like it. Depends on the programmer's preference. The problem with a self-destruct mode is that if you can't use it then you don't see any more reminders.

Maybe the ones that don't put in self-destruct code hope that if they keep telling you to buy it your conscience will eventually encourage you to pay up even if it's well past the usual trial period.

Also, sometimes they throw in something that irritates the user until they pay the fee just for it to go away, such as limited features, constant reminders to buy the full versions, etc.

The truth? I registered WinZip using Serials 2000. I figured I'd "evaluate" the registered version before I buy.

I'm calling the winzip cops! I can't "TELL" you what to do but I wouldn't admit that in public.
