Ok, I have looked on Google for any similar problems, but they all seem to be slightly different.
:upset:
My problem is that I cannot delete any of my music/movie files from my Kazaa OR winMX folder. I know it is a common problem to have trouble deleting files from kazaa, but I havent seen people having problems with WinMX.

It is quite ergent because I have nearly filled my harddrive with a few movies (small HDD), and now need to delete them to make space for the rest of the family to store whatever they need to.

When I go to right click on a file to delete it, it comes up as illegal operation, and when i just select it, and press the delete key, the same thing happens. Im going round in circles!

PLease someone help me!

Welcome :)

Are these completed files or current/part downloads?
Have you made sure that the programs are not currently running?
Have you tried booting into Safemode to delete the files?

Havent tried deleting these in safe mode, thats a good idea I'll try that now.
No, the programs are not running.
And the files are complete files.

Thanks for your very quick response.

I have just tried deleting them in safe mode, and still no success.
I will do a virus scan on the computer, which will take a few hours, and then if I still have problems, I hope you dont mind me asking more questions.

Thanks,
Skwid

Are you getting the illegal operation error in Safemode?

If you wish to delete full folders of files then you could boot into DOS and delete them.
It would be a bit time consuming from individual tracks though.

see if this tool (http://www.softwarepatch.com/software/moveonboot.html)will help.

Yes, I do get the illegal operation things in safe mode.
I have just done the virus scan, and a virus did come up, which the software then deleted, but I still cannot delete.
I have just worked out, that I can no longer delete ANY files on the computer, and if i right click on anything, I get the illegal operation screen.

Anymore suggestions?
