connecting two computers through 2wire

i am connecting two computers up through sbc 2wire one of them is windows 98 other is windows xp do i need any special downloads seems like windows 98 is and it freezes up when on internet [98] just keeps gettting slower and slower then will freeze up lose my color

I am not familiar with 2wire but it sounds like win98 has a resource problem. Try turning off stuff not needed running at startup
