Install modem/card

Re-installed Windows 98 2nd edition. Says modem not installed but installed driver{Lucient}, installed to com port 1-tutoral on this-Help?

Boy, I'm rusty on that stuff now. Is it a pci or isa modem. Hardware or software? If possible for the old isa hardware modems. Hardware, I would disable one or both serial ports in bios. In device manager, delete the comport and then install the modem and comport. Hopefully someone else will help you because it's been awhile since I've done that. I don't use dial-up modems anymore and haven't for some time.

Try moving to com 4 or 3
