I am trying to reinstall windows 98. I have a start up disk but my pc is not reading the disk drive. My problem is that I can't change the destination on the bios because the bios is password protected and I don't know the password. I tried removing the battery from the motherboard to no avail. Any help would be appreciated

How long did you leave the battery removed for? It can take up to 45 minutes on occasion for the CMOS to lose its settings, including the BIOS password.

If the previous reply does not help, tell what computer model you have or motherboard.

that did work but now I get "invalid system disk," "replace disk, then press any key."

Do you have a floppy disk in the floppy drive when you boot up? I believe this is one cause of this message.
Be sure that the Boot Sequence or Boot Order in your BIOS is set to look to the HD your OS is installed on before any optical drives.
