Who Closes The Thread?

Is the person that post the thread supposed to close it, or does the person that replys close it? If I'm the one that does, can someone tell me how to do it.

Only moderators can close threads.

Yep - threads are closed for a few main reasons:

Duplicate

If someone posts the same thing in several forums for example, we'll close the additional threads

Content

If there is a problem with the subject being discussed we sometimes close the thread leaving an explanation of why the discussion can't continue. For more seriously inappropriate stuff the thread would be removed.

Moved

Threads which have been moved to another forum can show as locked, depending on how the mod concerned does it (there are a couple of methods of moving a thread)


We don't actively close threads which are finished with, although we do encourage a new thread for a new question.
