What is a mixer? Any suggestions? :)

try going to volume control (Start->Run sndvol32.exe) and going to Options->Properties. Select the Recording radio button and check all the options. From the Mixer Device drop down box up the top select your sound driver (there should only be 1 choice). Hope that helps, else all I can say is make sure your audio drivers are installed correctly with latest version and check that all cables are connected to the right ports and connected properly.
