System clock missing from desktop.

i have windows 98 instatalled and off late i have seen that when my computer boots up it does not show the system clock although when i hover the mouse over it does show the date and upon right clicking itdoes show the normal lcock interface.although i have tried to right click on the system taskbar and clicked and unclicked and then re clicked on show clock but it simply doesn't show up.their's just an empty space there.also i have problems accessing the internet. i go online thru my dial up but my system doesn't detect the cennection and when i try to surf or download stuff with download accelerator it simply tells me it could notdetect a live internet connection or coonection to server failed.

I don't know the answer to your dial-up problem - could be anything from a dead modem to bad cable 'phone connections.

Re the clock, find and delete a file call shelliconcache - Windows will re-create
it when you reboot.
