i am trying to add a win98 partition to a Laptop with XP-home(sp1) aLready instaLLed & NO fLoppy drive. I created the new partition using Acronis PartitionExpert. I aLso made two "so-caLLed" Acronis boot-CD's using the Acronis "media buiLder" that came with the PartitionExpert program. I made severaL other "so-caLLed" boot-CD's using "UBCD4Win", "peBuiLder", & my Nero-5.5 program. i aLso read (somewhere onLine) that the win98 instaLL CD might be bootabLe. So, thinking i was safe & had aLL my bases covered (fataL error!), i set my newLy created FAT32 partition as "active" & then "hid" the originaL XP-home partition & went into "reboot". WeLL ...i am now staring at a big black screen with one tiny, agonizing Line of text; "Non-system disk, press any key..." ACHHH http://theeldergeek.com/forum/html/emoticons/blink.gif !!! NONE of my so-caLLed boot-CD's are working & i honestLy don't what to try next. Having no fLoppy drive is, weLL, faaar worse than i thought possibLe http://theeldergeek.com/forum/html/emoticons/dry.gif, & i am now the not-so-proud owner of a Laptop-shaped paper weight!
