RW Drive

I had a RW drive that went bad, so I took it to the computer shop to have a new one installed. The problem is that I now do not have the adeptec program to create CD's. The D drive works great but I'm unable to burn a CD. For instance, when I try and back up a program file, I get the message that the drive is read only and to remove the read only protection. How do I go about removing the "read only" its talks about?
