Burned DVD not playing

I have a DVD player attached to my TV. It will play a CR-ROM with jpeg images on it in a slide show-no problem. But it will not play a DVD ROM with burned jpeg images on it. I know there are several formats for DVD's but don't know how to burn the right one. Any help on this? Thanks.

can you view the images from a pc?

You require a program such as nero vision express 3 to create a slide show in dvd video format.
