Copy Applications

I have a backup program installed on my computer, but I have lost the original CD. Is there any way to make a copy of this program and put it on CD in case I have to re-install. I know the program installs pieces of itself in the Registry and certain Windows folders, so I can't jusy copy it from the Program Files folder. I seem to remember a program like this from some time ago, but do not recall what it was called.

Thanks

Welcome

You are correct in that you probably won't be able to just copy the Program to a CD and expect it to work.

I don't know of a program that would detect what files or reg entries are associated with that program, although Google may find one.

For future installs you could use a program such as Ashampoo Uninstaller Suite which will record what files and registry entries are added/changed during install

if you really lost the cd, you may be able to get a replacement if the software was properly registered with manufacturer, contact them. some will replace the cd at a reduce cost.
