Is there a way I can password protect a folder or make it so only I can acess that folder?
Also is there a way to prevent a folder from being deleted?

Welcome to CTH!

There are some apps out there that will allow you to pass protect folders, though I can't think of a single one off the top of my head.... let me search that....

http://www.everstrike.com/
http://www.folder-password-expert.com/
http://www.password-protect-software.com/
http://www.softheap.com/ffp.html

I found a free one: http://www.cypherix.com/password_protect.htm

Another option, depending on how compfortable you are with your [I'm assuming] Windows OS is to use advanced file sharing. This requires Windows 2000, XP, or server edition (possibly NT) and the file/folder must be on an NTFS drive/partition. If you want more info on this, let us know and someone can walk you through it once we know what OS. This will also prevent any users besides yourself and whoever you authorize from deleting folders.

Go to Folder options and select the view tab. Scroll to the bottom and uncheck Use Simple File Sharing (Recommended).

Read this article (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308418) to learn how to set folder permissions. It's very important you understand this, otherwise you may lock yourself and everyone else out of folders.

The same information is on this page (http://www.jsiinc.com/SUBJ/tip4800/rh4899.htm).

If neither link works (they're going to try to open a new window and that function may be messed up in your browser), right click on one of them, left click on "Copy shortcut," then paste the address into the address bar of your browser, click the Go button.

How do I make it so that i can put a password on the folder and people still can acess my computer. My folders doesn't have the options of Security, only Sharing and if I check the mark where it says Make it so only I can acess this folder it makes me create a password on the user which I don't want.
