I am just about to buy a new computer. As you would expect I have a lot of stuff on my old machine I want to keep. I do have a cd burner but is there an easier way to transfer data from one machine to another, linking the two together? Also, would it be possible as a kind of answer to that question to run the two machines at once using one keyboard, mouse and monitor? In that way no data transfer would be necessary. Please give an answer to both questions, then I can decide what to do. If the latter is possible, would it be expensive?

I have checked the tutorial page as I think that is a great idea, but I could not find any such subject. But then I am useless at finding things on supermarket shelves as well! Point me in the right direction please.

Do a search here using the term "slave hard drive" by clicking on the word 'search' near the top of this page. There's plenty of info there to help you configure both drives in 1 machine.
Also, your local computer store should have a selection of KVM (keyboard-video-mouse) switches. They come with instructions. ;)
