I'm having a problem with MS Word 2000 that is driving me mad! All of a sudden, whenever I double-click on a Word file, the program launches but does not open the document. This means that I have to manually navigate within the 'Open file' dialogue box in Word and open the file that way. It's very time consuming and very annoying.... does anyone have any suggestions?

When you launch the file does it produce a blank document?

Welcome :)
Goto Windows Explorer>Tools>Folder Options>File Types>
scroll to DOC and then click Advanced.
Click Open then Edit
Here is how the Info should be setup
Action: &Open
Application: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\WINWORD.EXE" /n
DDE: [REM _DDE_Direct][FileOpen("%1")]
