How about having a link at the top of the main page to a resources area with links to the likes of....

.....and the whole host of useful(free) sites out there that are difficult to come by. I know there may well be links to some or even all of these sites hidden away here at CTH but a common home for them would be cool

With regards to your suggestion :

Yes it's a good idea however since the redesign of CTH the downloads link is now more prominent on the forums page. There you can for example download a bootdisk. But I can understand your point fully. I will consider it, and have a play around with how the links look at the top of the forum. Some sites I know have them and they make the forum look tacky IMO :( But I will see what's what with this.
