Can you please install the hack which allows the 'edited by ....' line to appear smaller than the text in a message. Also, I believe there's one which prevents more than one 'edited by' message from appearing. Thanks, :)

Hey Tweakthis,

I've had those hacks installed on previous versions of the UBBs I've been running, and agree with the first of your suggestions as being cosmetically more pleasing :) The next version of UBB, which is to be released very soon I believe, will allow me to change that as standard, along with a plethora of other new features.

The 2nd of your suggestions isn't a bad idea either. I'll give that one some thought :)

Thanks, Mishy. :) And, um, since I'm being so pushy...how about some new emoticons? ;) I know that Maxx is partial to the yellow guy waving "hi" and I could make great use of a laughing one. :) :D

Hi Tweak,

Junky will be glad to hear some other folks asking for more graemlins. He is the current flag-bearer for the "we need more Graemlins!!!" cause. We'll follow him anywhere. :D :D

EDIT: Yes...I love the little waiving guy...he looks like an M&M. :D

lol Additional emoticons/smilies also come as a default feature of the next UBB version. Adding them etc. incl the instant graemlin interface you will encounter when posting a thread/reply also will be a part of the new UBB.

The new version is in a beta stage right now. I'm waiting until the final version is released before installing it on the site for the same reason I'm not installing many "hacks". Beta code is not fully tested and is usually buggy.

There was a time on CTH prior to the v6 series when I had installed over 50 hacks to a v5 UBB. With the constant upgrading to better/more secure versions I also had to update the hacks at the same time which to say the least is a laborious process. Upgrading however is an absolute necessity as prior UBB versions (especially versions prior to v5.47e) are ridden with security flaws. So it is my main concern to not only keep this forum running fast and efficiently, but most importantly to keep uptodate with security fixes. Hence why I upgraded from previous versions.

Infopop are finally now adding much requested features (whose online in the not too distant future (2-3 months)) as default to a standard UBB. About time too IMO.

Cosmetic things like additional smilies are nice I agree, but when potentially sacrificing speed/security for a feature all things need to be considered first.

FWIW a lot of hacks are not always as efficient and stable as they are supposed to be ;)

So why have "whose online" installed ? hehehe we all know what a great feature that is :)

The only hacks I have installed here are what I would call the necessities. The necessities which I worked out were most important to my enjoyment of a UBB and also its functionality. Whose online - post preview - last post by (on topic listing).

What's wrong with using some of the "smileys" from here (http://mysmilies.com/)?

I've long been a supporter of the CWM site --- great work there! http://www.data-techniques.net/cwm/otn/happy/sunflower.gif --- but sometimes it's nice just to be able to enter a short site code or click on a smilie and have it appear. That way you don't have to go http://www.mpz.co.uk/cwm/otn/happy/auto.gif surfing to use the one(s) that suit your mood/message. http://www.ukobservers.net/cwm/otn/happy/greencyc.gif
