I currently have a D-link wireless network with 2 computers. Recently, the signal strength has been "low" on the one computer. When I right clicked on my network icon in my task bar, I chose "view all wireless networks". On the screen came up "linksys", "default" and "ELSDMM". I have never seen the ELSDMM before on my computer, nor was it there when I would previously check in wireless connections. My signal strentgh continues to be low and as of right now, my internet does not work. Is there something I can do to block out other networks? Is this even the case? :upset:

I have never seen the ELSDMM before
It's just another wireless network in your neighborhood.

For the weak signal thing all you have to do is move your router higher off the floor or if you can to
another location in your abode. Near windows, top floor, away from large power circuits, that kind
of thing. The antennas are movable because they work like the old style TVs before cable was invented,
move the antennas around to improve the signal.

Wanted to add...

...if you don't have WEP turned on, you should. WEP is your encryption protection so you won't get outside
"war drivers" trying to jack your signal. Your not being jacked by the ELSDMM I just wanted to make sure
you have your WEP enabled. Routers come default with WEP disabled and you have to enable it yourself.

Thanks Spider......How do I know if I have the WEP turned on?

When you click twice on the active connections icon beside your clock it shows all signals
in your area, any signal (including yours) will say either "WEP" or "Protected".

Again, if you never set it up then it's definitely not on.

I did not have an "active connections" icon....I do have a network icon and from clicking that, I found nothing saying "WEP" or "Protected".

My other question is, between the "default" and the "linksys", which one should be connected? If I connect the "default" one, the signal strength is excellent. If I connect through the "linksys" one, the signal strength is low to very low. However, on either one, my internet does not load. Am I missing a step? I think I caused more trouble for myself!
