Hello CTH,
My computer (Windows 2000 Pro) was working great until I installed an AntiVirus Program.
I've downloaded and installed eTrust™ EZ Antivirus software which was available from my ISP(SBC Yahoo DSL) for free. After installation, the Program scanned my computer and found some viruses, which was a surprise since the computer was working fine. After the scan the eTrust™ EZ Antivirus program ask to reboot the computer to finish the installation. I rebooted the computer and it went through the normal start up but when it came to the Desk Top there were no icons, just a blank blue screen with a Task bar. I tried to click on the Start Button or the other short cut buttons, nothing happens.
I rebooted the computer to the last known good configuration and it booted with icons on the Desk Top but when you click on the icons nothing happens. I tried to go through the Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) the window opens up but when I click on the Task Manager button the screen turns blue with white lines in shapes of rectangles.

Any Suggestions would be Appreciated

Bill

I think there was an old copy of Norton Anti Virus on the System. I'll have to check when I get home.

nyaxea thanks for your suggestion.
I was able to go into safe mode and uninstall the Anti Virus Program. After a reboot the computer operated like it did before.

Thanks Again:blush:

If you don't want topay for the latest Nortons, why not try AVG, I have found it to be good and no side effects.
