helllo

i have done all of it now with WIFI networking , wardriving ect ect ect

I have a want for a second TV and i was thinking why is it not possible to stream the tv signal to my laptop .. i read that if you wanna stream a movie or some clip you need 8 mbit for picture of 60 frames a second this is PAL standard ... this be desiarable and a surround sounf would be 125 kb per sec ... all very possible on a 54 mbit local WIFI network ...

i got thinking ... we need a desktop or server on the network which recieves the TV signal from the cable/satelite ... now this Desktop/server needs to be able to stream (broadcast) the signal to the laptop via Wifi , to by connecting it to the router and using some kind of simple software which streams it to the entered IP's or somthing like that ...

i also see one problem ... if u use a Herculuse TV box thinggy then u need to change the channel via the thing ?? and so how to change the channel .. but it would be very cool to watch TV on your laptop via WIfi , imagen the Money to be made in that ... because many people have a WIFI network and a laptop and so i believe this is somthing some people should help me ...

my email :

my MSN :

Dapkor@hotmail.com (Dapkor@hotmail.com)

if u can help me out pls send me a mail or somthing ...

Phil peace out

You thinking right, your just a little ahead of the technology.

You'll have to wait for 802.11r hardware
http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/802/11/Reports/tgr_update.htm

I'm sure when 802.11r stuff starts coming out somebody will make a wireless TV card along the way
but they would have to also wait for a wireless signal from TV cable. The thing is they know that pirate
satellite hardware already exists and going wireless on simple cable TV that all the pirates are just
waiting for that wavelength to hit the air.

One day soon everything is going to be wireless. The speaker industry is starting to get pretty serious
on wireless systems. It's out but it's not out big yet. Another year or two and if you run wires to your
extra TV speakers (or Theater system) you'll be one of the old-school types.

Wait...and you can war drive CSI, Sex And The City, Everybody Loves Raymond, and The Daily Show.

Btw, we don't do email contact here. For one, nobody can learn from a thread that disappears into email.
For two, you just opened yourself to the spam harvesters by posting your email in a public forum.
Enjoy the spam.

Hey long time no reply's...

NO one intrested in a free Feed of TV signals over a WIFI network .. that be cool...

any ways i found a way

i was surfing as usual ...

WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER ENCODER 9 ist a free ware u can download but damm that software is powerfull , you cna make recording ect .. well with it you can set up a direct feed streamer and so set up a stream of life input from your tv tuner card , now a problem comes allong , every time you like to change the channel you'll have to go back to your Feed

any ways , i think this is a very nice movement into setingup a free feed over a excisting hardware ,

Imagen u can watch the Superbowl or FIFA world cup on it and so be in your garden or anywhere in reach of you WIFI network , possibly you could even set it up so that it is briged over to your neighbors network

NOW i like some help with some software or any good idea's regarding the channel changing ,

(here is a link to the site explaining how it works with media encoder 9)

If you are looking for software to remotely control the server. Take a look at MisterHouse. It is driven all through Perl and many things have been done with it already and it can be readily extended. It is mostly geared towards home automation, but I was using it with an X10 remote to control the DVD player on the PC (which was connected to my TV). You can even configure MisterHouse to lauch the app when it receives a command.

BTW - thanks for the link...

PS.

MisterHouse can be found at http://misterhouse.sourceforge.net/ Also, have you seen http://www.videolan.org/streaming/ ? I don't know how it is, but it seemed interesting and it has a plus of not being a M$ based solution ;)

if your laptop is tv ready you should be able to send and receive the tv signal using this (http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5Fid=15-2572)from radio shack. Now it is not exactly the type of network you are looking for but it works. I am using it.
