Hi there!

I bought an Epson Stylus COLOR II printer with the computer listed below in 2000. I used it on one of the 3 USB ports on my pc. I purchased an EPSON Stylus Photo 960 a couple of years ago to replace the COLOR II. I uninstalled the software for the older printer and tried to hook the new one up using USB. My system was never able to print with this new printer using the USB. It kept telling me that the COLOR II was using the port so I hooked the new one up on LPT1 instead. This means it's reeeaaallly slow. Especially on photos. I tried to get help from both Gateway and Epson at the time and neither could help me, mainly because each figured it was the other's problem. I gave up, until now. I looked in my System Info and saw the old printer listed with the Registry Key saying: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\enum\ROOT\PRINTER\0001. I also looked at a recent bootlog and saw: [001343AF] Starting Epson Stylus COLOR II (ROOT\PRINTER\0001). I'm clueless where the registry is concerned, but could this entry be the problem? Or is it something else? I'm sorry this was so long, but I didn't know how much info I needed to include. I'll be grateful for any help.

Thank you,

Molly

Hi try this...
Click on the Windows/Printers Folder.
Remove all printers.
Disconnect all printer USB cables.
Reboot.
Connect desired printer usb cable
Reboot.
If prompted, load drivers from printer install CD

Hi SEUser,

Thanks for replying. I tried this a few times when I first encountered the problem, but I tried it a few more times today just for good measure. Unfortunately it's a no-go. :nope: I've decided it's just time to do some upgrading instead and just not fool with this anymore. I really appreciate your trying to help though. :D

Not sure if I should just delete this thread or what.
