WIN 2K PRO Networking Problem

I am having trouble with Win2k giving me an error every few min. In the bottom right hand corner it comes up "Local Are Connection" "Network cable unplugged". I tried a new network cable and a new network card. I switched to another IP address and none of that worked. So I called our IT guy here at work and asked him what to do. He said it was a Win2k problem and when he got time he would come down and fix it. Well that was a week ago and I need my PC fixed. The funny thing is that it connects back up right away on its own. But I have a server based software that I have to log into and it kicks me off every time. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Maybe check the firewall settings you have? Sounds like for some reason its dropping the connection from the internet. This being a work computer I assume its running behind a router at some point?

Network problem...

I work in the I.S./I.T. dept. at the company that I work for...

This is NOT your problem, if they cannot figure out what the problem is while sitting at your desk within 10 minutes they either need to find you someplace else to sit or bring you a new computer.

Again, THIS IS NOT YOUR PROBLEM. If your I.T. dept. is unwilling to fix the problem within a reasonable amount of time please contact someone in Management who has the authority to get this resolved for you.
