When I click on
Start
Settings
Control Panel
Add Remove Programs and Windows components
There is an option to click on when the add remove programs window opens up that's called Windows Setup.
after I click on Windows Setup I receive this error
Rundll32 has caused an error in SETUPX.DLL
Rundll32 will now close.
If you continue to experience problems try restarting your computer.
I did restart the computer and I still receive the same error.
I would appreate if someone could help me with this problem.
Thanks! Anthony :upset:

Hello ComputerUserCA
Give this a try:
Copy and paste these lines exactly as they are, into Notepad, starting at Regedit4, and including everything down to the last inverted commas.
Save it as SETUPX.REG in My Documents and then double click the file to run it. The registry entries will be edited and hopefully all will be well again.

Hello Tweaker
I did everything exactly as you told me to do. It now allows me into Windows Setup but its not displaying any of the installed Windows components. My copy of Windows came preinstalled on my HP Pavilion 7865 Desktop Computer. I hope this extra information can help determine what the problem may be. I didn't have this problem at all when I first bought the computer but then I had a problem getting back on my computer one day and I decided to reformat my hard drive. The problem has been occurring ever since. Could it have anything to do with me reformatting the hard drive? I also have had hundreds of viruses and Trojan horses detected on my computer over the 3 years I have had this computer.
Thanks! Anthony

Hello again ComputerUserCA
That was a shot in the dark that has helped others with the same problem.
