Can I retrieve Data after a crash and reinstall

Hello All,
Im new here so I had better be honest and say that I am not a "techy " nor am I even computer literate ! BUT , I do need help from those of you that are .
I run Windows 98 with Microsoft word etc , unfortunately the PC crashed and wouldnt allow me to boot up, so I had to use the Recue Disc ( Packard Bell ) and reinstall the soft ware from my origional discs . Worked great and was quite pleased with myself until my 16 yr old daughter got in and told me that ALL of her course work for her impending exams was on Word and she hadnt done any back up !!

QUESTION : - Is there anyway I can retrieve the work from the "old " word now that I have reinstalled word again ???? I,ve been told that it will still be there , just unavailable ??

Appreciate any help you could give
Thanks Alan

If you used the restore disks to make your computer like it was when you bought it, then the answer is: Only if you are wealthy and stop using the computer right now. Even then it's only a maybe.
