I attach my new drive as described on site, then start my computer using a boot disk. I choose to "start computer without CD support", Then at the a:/ prompt I enter fdisk and enter. The computer should then ask if I would like to enable large disk support, but instead says "no fixed disks present" Can you help me? PLEASE!!!!!!

Welcome :)

What is the setup of your PC?
How many drives and what configuration? IDE or SATA?

Does the BIOS and POST detect the drives?

Hi

Hard disk drive not connected properly
Jumpers not set properly
CMOS not setup properly
Hardware is bad
Check these options.

My guess it's the jumpers.

I'm not sure of setup for PC. I believe it is IDE. There is one hard drive, a cd/rom and a hard disk drive. Call me stupid but do both the master and the slave need their own power source? If so where do I get the second power source from? Is it the one's hanging under the hard drive? Dahh!! Please help!! I do appreciate this!!

I have checked and rechecked the connection and the jumpers. How do I check CMOS? Does both slave and master require power, and if so how? I know "How Stupid is this person?" Just a woman that's all. THanks so much!!

Hi

All drives need a data cable and a power cable connecting them.

Have a look at the attachment I have posted to show you how.

Check out THIS (http://www.extreme-guides.com/g/Build-Your-Own-PC/Installing-The-Parts.html) link if you get stuck again.

Cheers
