Starting pc i get "invalid system disc, replace disc and press any key"
I put the boot disc in and typed sys c:, I now get a c: prompt and what do I do next to get the OS restored?
Not very good in DOS.
Thank you!!!

After you typed "sys c:" you should have gotten the message, "System Transferred."
If you received "Bad command or file name" and have verified you have typed the "sys c:" command properly, you will need to get a boot floppy with the file "sys.com" on it.
If system was transferred successfully, take the floppy out of the floppy drive, reboot the computer and it should boot on into Windows.

It did say "system Transferred" but when I take out floppy and reboot I get the c: prompt.
Will I need to reinstall windows?

Someone else may come along with a better idea but my experience is that at this point you'll need to reinstall Windows.

Do you recall any error message prior to the problem. At c prompt when you type dir then enter, are you getting anything?

Nah, no messages...i shut down yesterday, turn the pc on this morning and it gave me the invalid system disc message...I then did the sys c: and now it boots in dos to the c: prompt. Thinking is now that I will just reinstall, unless you have another option ren!
