FDISK Help Needed
I recently acquiired a new (to me) computer. I checked it out, and found that it had 2 hard drives: a 40 gig Drive C:; and an 80 Gig Drive D:. I decided to start clean; so, I booted with a WIN98SE Starup Disk, and ran FDISK on Drive C:. I then formatted Drive c: with no problems. FDisk now told me that I had a single 40 Gig partition on Drive C;.
I then re-booted the computer and ran FDISK on Drive D:. When I tried to set a Primary DOS Partition, however, I had difficulty. There was some hesitation in verifying the drive integrity, but it did succeed. It then asked whether I wanted to use all the space available. I replied affirmatively. It then had to verify the drive integrity again. It once again had difficulty with this. Having succeeded the 2nd time, it would only produce a 12 Gig partition. What's going on, and how can I correct the problem? Tom Brady |

FDISK may have problems with a drive that big.
I would recommend that you goto the HDD Manufacturers website and download their disk tools to Partition and Format the drive.

Went there.
Did that. Solved the problem. Thanks! The difficulty is with WIN98SE. It has difficulty reporting on drives larger than 667gig. The entire disk is available, but WIN98SE reports that the partition is equal to (Size of the drive-67gig). Thus; an 80 gig drive is reported as having a partition of only 13 gig. Tom Brady |
