Hi new one,

I had to reformat we had storms here last night so had to completely shut down, (this is normal for me now until I get a new hard drive & RAM)

But after I installed windows 2000 pro then updates all of them both criticle and recommended.

I tried to install MS Office Pro first disk in and get an windows installer error:

""The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.
This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personale for assistance.

Then OK button....""

Can someone please advise on this?
I did research and found the installer download for windows 2000 pro and tried to install it but it told me that it was already on this machine and working fine.

Thanks for the help.

It's a SP3 issue da_moma. See here (http://www.windowsitpro.com/Article/ArticleID/26552/26552.html?Ad=1) for suggested fixes.

Thank you AnnMarie for the reply.

I followed the instructions to a T it did not work I got this error when I tried to install it:

""Setup has detected that the Service pack version of the system installed is newer than the update you are applying to it.

You can only install this update on Service Pack 3""

OK so I go "controll panel" "Add and Remove Programs" Removed Service Pack4 rebooted then retried same error.

Going to bed exhausted will check back later this morning thank you.

 Hi AnnMarie,

I actually very much enjoyed the article to my surprise.
I have not been very happy with MS lately, but it is this system that is causing the issue with the new installer due to the hard drive I think.

I appreciate your help and answering. This re formatting is a drag :( maybe soon a new hard drive & or pooter will be on the way. Here's to faith any way.

Thanks again!
