 My windows 2K generic PC (PIII) consistently reboots before the Windows splash screen appears. It reboots immediately after the time allowed for pressing F8 elapses. Also, when I run Panda rescue boot disk scans, the scans terminate with the following message: "Program exited abnormally - received signal 11. You may safely reboot your system." Any suggestions?

If the system .ini file got damaged I can see why you would get a computer that constantly reboots itself. I would try doing an overinstall of 2000 and see if that works. You might lose a little data though so if you are able to back it up, I would do that before doing an over-install. If that doesn't work you can also do a clean install of 2000.

Catprotector,

I reinstalled over the original installation and can now boot successfully. I did not lose any data, although I will need to reinstall two or three programs. Thanks for the heads up!
