My son wants to buy an ipod.
I know that you need to have windows XP or 2000 to run the ipod,we have windows ME.

So my question's are..

1 can you put XP on to the system i am using?
It has ...
256 OGM of RAM
60 gb hard drive
1333Mhz Processor

2.How easy is it to put windows on my P.C?

3.Can i just use a XP disk that a friend has?

4.Anyone know of any other good MP3 players?

Any help anyone can give would be great. http://images.techguy.org/smilies/thumbsup.gif

Thanks

You can definately put winxp on your pc on your current system configuration,
And I think you won't regret it. it would rather run smoothly
Installation is fairly easy, you can simply choose upgrade option(I am not sure wheather upgrade is available for ME too)

Using your friends disk, is totally illegal, if he has bought it only under one user licence. For multiple user licence it may be possible, depending on how many users are already using it.

I think creative's mp3 player is quite good but I haven't used it.

You will need to purchase an XP CD.
If you have the original WinME CD then you only need the XP Update.

You should have no problems upgrading to XP from ME.

Personally though, I would recommend that you do a clean install.
This means to Format the drive to get rid of the current WinME installation.
(will wipe all data on the drive).

Another alternative is to setup a Dual Boot system.
This way you will have ME and XP on the PC and you would be able to switch between them.
You need a little more configuration to do this though.
