I have had my computer for a year now and it came with a cd burner in it. The only problem is it was not working when I got it. I thought I just needed a driver for it or something, but I am not sure how to go about finding it. I have never installed a cd-rw before so I dont have a clue what to do. I would love it if someone could help me. I have a Cendyne Model # CW 4802 on the fron of it it says 48x 16x 48x. Thanks for any info!

Does it read CD's ok?

What errors do you get when trying to write a CD?
What software are you using?

we dont have any software for it, I dont know what I need. As for reading cd's, when you put one in, the green light blinks but it does not detect a cd in it.

Are you saying that the Drive has never detected CD's since you got it?

Does it show in My Computer and Device Manager?

yes it is listed in both. In Device manager it is listed as CENDYNE_481648AX.

It has never detected cds since we got it. We bought the computer about a year ago used, and everything else works great we just did not concern ourselves with it until now, it would be nice to get it working

when I put a cd in it says D:\is not accessible device is not ready

however, it also says in status that the device is working properly

Ok,
after a bit of digging around with the information in this post, here's what I've found. The drive is called: Accestek.

Now for the unfortunate bad news... I've done some searches for you on various search engines/forums and found that the site don't work, they have only a contact number and I can't seem to find any decent drivers for Windows for that drive.

Even worse, I read it takes 6mins just to burn a CD??? grrrrrrrrrrr that makes me angry. no drivers, no support, no website! now i'm really annoyed...

sorry I can't be more helpful, no offence but the best thing u can do is pull it out and buy a lite-on 52x cd-rw. they're cheap, I've got one and they've not ever given me any problems.

You're right your writer seems old one, you have to buy new one, but if you want to stick with currunt one for a while,
You can try, Drive Cleaning CD, which would clean, your drive's laser, so It would be easier for it to read CDs.

This is for anyone, who want to keep the CD Drive/Writer healthy.
