My Office 97 disk will not work no matter what I try. I have win98 and an HP thinkpad 600e. Can I use the microsoft office designed for win 95 and then down load an upgrade to 97 office. Or what is the best approach?
Thanks

what error messages are you getting when you are trying to install office? What type of office cd is it, full or upgrade?

I have full cd office 97, I do not get an error the disk will not load. I have tried everything including cleaning it. I tried it on other PCs, it is ruined. I have full ver of MS office 95 from the kids pc which can not hold win 98 nor office 97 so I was wondering if I could load that instead.

If 97 is a legal full version cd, I cannot think of a reason why it would not work. Have you tried cleaning the cd or the drive?
As far as installing the other copy, you need to check the eula if allowed, then it should work also.

I just thought of something, how much space do you have available on the harddrive. I don't know how much it needs but you will need space for both temporary files and the actual install. Try deleting the files in your windows temporary folder (not temporary internet folder)
