Can't watch video clips

Since getting broadband I thought I would watch news clips, etc. When I go onto BBC news for example and clck on "watch bbc news in video" a window opens up and a player appears. Then it says connecting, buffering, etc and then I can hear audio but see nothing. Occasionaly I can see images but only stills not moving pictures. Any ideas why this is happening. Cheers
