win2000 --- cpu at 100%...sllloooowwww

I am hoping someone cant help me fix my pc problem. My PC was performing poorly---MicrosoftME, so i installed Win2000 Pro on it. I am sure I have both ME and Win2000 on my pc now...I suspect its partitioned.

anyway, the pc now seems to always have cpu usage at or near 100%. it takes forever to dial in (phone). even solitaire is slow.

i checked task manager and the 2 things that seem to be clockin cpu are:
exploree.exe and InoTask.exe

The Explorer is understandable. I dont know what this Inotask.exe is. It chugs away and I suspect it is eating all my available time.
It may be worth noting also that I have an HP Color Printer and when I reboot the PC, it always has to "wait" to shut that task down, and I nearly always end up terminating it, because the task has "died", but not gone away.

Anywho--immediate issue: CPU Usage. Thoughts anyone?

Thx
