Help! Please!
Somehow, this happened this morning and I'm having to use a neighbor's computer to put in this thread.
Anytime I use anything that uses Explorer or Internet Explorer, I get that "Explorer" or "Iexplorer" has caused an error in msvcrt.dll.
I cannot explore my computer or use search.
I cannot connect to the internet in any way, shape or form.
I've tried to run scan disk, but it has to keep starting over and over, as does disk defrag.
I ran my McAfee Virus Scan, but no viruses were detected. It did find a couple unwanted programs, but one of them cannot be deleted, quarantined or cleaned.
I've noticed some things I shouldn't have running like "bargains" "salm" tgcmd" "optimize" (?not sure?) and "cxtple_loader_ff" ---- could any of these be causing the problem?
Downloading a fix is not an option, because I cannot connect to the internet!
I cannot use email!
I'm at my wit's end-- any help out there?
I have tried starting safe mode to run scan disk, but it won't start in safe mode. Although I did a manual shutdown and restart to get standard scan to run and it found no errors.
Can I fix this with my Windows ME disk from Dell? If so, how, please!

Thanks, Ten
I'm also going to check with Microsoft's site.

:dizzy: Well, fixed it -- sorta.

I had to do a system restore from DOS.
Pain.
Then when I ran my Adaware and Spybot and deleted unwanteds, I got a new error under the same circumstances, but this was an error in SDHELPER.DLL.

Good Grief!
So, now I have spyware on my computer that I can't delete, evidently. Unless....someone else out there has a clue.

To do a DOS system restore in ME:
Place your ME disk in a drive and restart your computer.
Choose to boot from CD.
Choose to start with CD support.

At the A:> type C:
At the C:> type cd windows
At the C:>WINDOWS> type cd command
At the C:>WINDOWS/COMMAND> type scanreg /restore
(yes, there's a space before the slash)
On the blue screen, choose your restore date, using ENTER to choose your options.
When computer restarts, choose to boot from HARD DRIVE!
Then, remove WINME CD.

Hope it will help someone.
