A couple of weeks ago i contracted some bad spyware and it caused problems with my computer. i ran hijack logs and it was pretty much cleaned. On friday i turned on my computer and the screen loaded and it stayed on my wallpaper and my mouse was in the hourglass icon. I left it for a good while and nothing happened. So i went into windows security and chose to restart my computer. after doing so, it started up correctly and i saw my icons and everything. can someone help?

When logging into a Windows 2k, the computer appears to get stuck on the wallpaper screen and do nothing, except for the hourglass on my mouse icon. If I hit ctrl-alt-del and restart, then the system will load without a problem. so each time i turn off the computer, i have to perform an additional step of restart in order to get to my desktop. thanks for the quick response!

Have you checked your startup items/services to see it is stalling?

There are many tools to check this.
