Hello All,
I just got DSL and I love it compared to dial-up. My problem is that I don't know how to make Winfax find a dial tone. Do I have to set up a second line to my old dial-up modem or can I somehow route it to use the phone line connected to my DSL box? Please if someone could explain it would help so much. Thanx

Think of the dialup modem as just another telephone and it all starts to make sense.
You need a separate phone wire going into the dialup modem just like you would for a telephone. You can put a splitter on the phone wire going to the modem and run another phone wire from the splitter (and filter if needed) to the dialup modem. Just be sure that you don't put a filter on the phone wire that goes from the splitter to the DSL modem.
A lot of DSL modems have a port to plug in a telephone. If yours does, run the phone wire from the DSL modem to the dialup modem. You won't need to use a filter on this kind of setup since the modem telephone port has a built-in filter.

Thank you for your help. I will tell you what I did and if you don't mind, please let me know what you think.
First of all, I have my DSL box connected through a surge protector meaning that the actual phone line from the house is plugged in the "in" on the surge protector and I plugged anther phone line in the "out" and ran that line to the DSL box.
Yes, my DSL box doe have an outlet for a telephone which I had connected. I unconnected the telephone and ran the DSL line to the modem. On the back of my computer it also has a place to plug in the phone, so I then ran a line to the phone from there.
Do you think that this will work without slowing my DSL? Thank you.

Yep, sounds like the perfect solution to me and I should have suggested you use the modem's phone port if necessary for a phone near the computer. Fortunately, you thought of it for me. ;)
No, the phone and the fax machine won't interfere with DSL. Telephones and fax machines use one "side" of the phone wire, DSL uses the other. So data flowing through one side won't affect what's happening on the other side.
